|Vanessa Claire Smith grew up in Louisiana, where she developed a love for local culture and music, including the earlier works of Louis Prima and his contemporaries. She attained her BFA in musical theatre at Webster Conservatory in St. Louis before going on for more studies at the Oxford School of Drama. Regional Theatre Credits include: Romeo and Juliet,-- Texas Shakespeare Festival; Return to the Forbidden Planet-- Hope Summer Rep; The Glass Menagerie, Gypsy-- Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre; A Midsummer Night's Dream, Twelfth Night-- Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival; Volpone-- Burton Taylor Theatre. Vanessa received a 2004 L.A. Weekly Award for Leading Female performance for her work as Alex in the world premiere of Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange with the Ark Theatre Company in Los Angeles.
